100th Day of School

Apparently Carter's 1st/2nd grade class stepped out of the box this year and instead of bringing 100 items to school on this celebrated day, they chose to dress up like they were 100 years old.

Carter was slightly disappointed that "No, you can't wear your skeleton costume to school -- that's more like 1,000 years old", but once he pulled his outfit together we were all so happy!

Notice the white hair -- baking powder's our secret!
Notice the mismatched argyle socks?  Blue and Black -- and I loved the pant leg tucked into the sock!
 Just practicing the act.

Okay, so funny thing. We were at Sonja's house the day her daughter had her 100th day of school and they ALSO dressed up like they were 100. And when we asked Keara what she thought she would wear if she were going to dress up to be 100, she said "A skeleton?!" To which we replied, no...but then stopped to think about it and realized that is probably a lot more likely for most of the kids than not! A little morbid, yes. But it is true that very few of them will live to be 100, so by the time they're that age, they will indeed be skeletons. I think it would have been morbidly funny for Carter to go in his skeleton costume. :)
